In Mary Shelley' s Frankenstein, the monster is able to relate to the characters in Milton' s Paradise Lost. He empathizes with Adam in the sense that he feels mortal, he shares sorrow and pain like all humans do. He has been created by someone- even if he is unsure who this someone is. The monster may feel closer to Satan though. He feels hideous, evil, filled with anger and hatred. Sometimes this darker side to him overpowers the other, and he knows he may be capable of horrible merciless actions. In any case the monster definitely displays signs of both human, and daemon behavior.

PARADISE LOST
Paradise Lost is an epic poem written by John Milton, in the 17th century. It revolves around the Fall Of Man and the temptation that Adam and Eve fell to in the garden of Eden. The story is about the corruption of mankind, and the influence of fallen angel Satan on the first man and woman. Adam and Eve are tricked into eating the forbidden fruit by Satan who takes the form of a snake. Under the influence of the fruit, they engage in intercourse and later feel ashamed, and cover their nudity. They have sinned, and their innocence is lost.
